Mockingjay

5 cookies
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. Loved it! Last book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I've noticed some people on Facebook saying that they were disappointed, but I wasn't. It isn't as intense as the other 2 books, and is a bit slower paced, but I liked that okay. I was really pleased with the way she ended the "guy" dilemma, and was happy with the way the book ended. One thing I didn't like - how many (and who) ended up dead at the end, although that was very much in harmony with the story as a whole.

The Stormchasers

4 cookies
The Stormchasers by Jenna Blum. About twins Charles and Karena, and the way they deal with Charles' Bi-polar - ness and his obsession with storms. Interesting.

House Rules

4 cookies
House Rules by Jodi Picoult. Great book about a young man with Asberger's syndrome, and what happens when his "Social Tudor" is killed. Picoult always does so much research and her characters are always so thought out.

Deception

5 cookies
Deception by Jonathan Kellerman. I have always LOVED the Alex Delaware novels by Mr. Kellerman. Loved them. And I loved this one! For anyone who hasn't ever read them, be warned that they can get quite graphic. But I still love them.

Lost

3 cookies
Lost by Alice Lichtenstein. About a woman married to a man with late-stage dementia. He wanders off into the woods in the middle of winter, and the search for him. Also a strange side side plot involving a young boy who accidentally set a fire and killed his brother. Kind of a weird book.

Hitched

3 cookies
Hitched (A Regan Reilly Mystery) by Carol Higgins Clark. These books are pretty cute, a nice light read. Fluffy.

The Inside Story (Sisters Grimm #8)

3 cookies
The Inside Story by Michael Buckley. This was okay, but I felt like there wasn't much to the story, it was just a time killer until the last book comes out. Hopefully the last one is better than this one was. Luckily, it only took me about 2 hours to read. Not too much time wasted.

Promises to Keep

4 cookies
Promises to Keep by Jane Green. I liked this book, but it did make me cry. It is about a woman, loved by all, who makes it through breast cancer, just to get a different cancer 5 years later, and what happens to her and those around her. Pretty good.

Missing in Action

That is me, not a book I read. It has been a crazy summer - and between 4 kids and being pregnant and leaving town, I have really fallen behind on this blog! I am going to try to catch up a bit, but I won't remember details about the books, so I will just put the name, author and if I liked it.

  1. Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern. 3 cookies
  2. Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. 4 cookies
  3. Wild Ride by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. 3 cookies

I also started to read 3 or 4 books that I couldn't finish. I haven't had a lot of time this summer, but school starts next week!
